October 20 - Publication of Michael's new
book, HOW DO I HELP
HIM? A PRACTITIONER'S GUIDE TO WORKING WITH BOYS AND MEN IN THERAPEUTIC
SETTINGS. This book integrates science-based research,
gendertheory, and Michael's twenty years of clinical practice with boys
and men, and women and girls. Boys and men tend to avoid
counseling and therapy more greatly than do girls and women.
This
practical guide helps mental health professionals in various clinical
settings add expanded theory and male-friendly practice to the
therapeutic toolbox. Eight chapters outline eight steps any
practitioner or institution can take to work more successfully with
boys and men, including insights into men's lives from new brain
research, innovations for both boys and men such as peripatetic
counseling and "graphic therapy," and specific help for sensitive and
bullied boys.
